Follow-Up Email Sequence
A follow-up email sequence for re-engaging non-responsive link building prospects
For SEO Manager
Follow-Up Sequence for Non-Responders
Use this sequence when your initial outreach gets no response. Each follow-up adds new value rather than simply asking again.
Follow-Up 1: The Gentle Bump (3-4 Days After Initial Email)
Subject: Re: [Original subject line]
Hi [Name],
Just bumping this up in case it got buried. I think a link exchange between [your page] and [their page] could work really well for both of our audiences.
Happy to go into more detail if you are interested.

Follow-Up 2: The New Angle (7-8 Days After Initial Email)
Subject: Another idea for [Their Site]
Hi [Name],
I wanted to share another angle that might interest you. We just published [new content piece] that has been getting great engagement. It covers [brief description] and could complement your article on [their topic].
Would you be open to exploring a reciprocal link between our content?

Follow-Up 3: The Soft Close (14 Days After Initial Email)
Subject: Should I close the loop?
Hi [Name],
I have reached out a couple of times about a potential link collaboration between our sites. I completely understand if the timing is not right or it is not a fit.
If you would prefer I not follow up, just let me know and I will remove you from my list. Otherwise, I am happy to chat whenever it makes sense.
All the best with [Their Site].
